*the base is Goofus, the lid is from an antique powder jar. They must've come together at some point and fit together wonderfully.

The antique Goofus glass jar base has original gilded paint, a hallmark of early 1900s American pressed glass. Its got a swell outside-painted ornate cherub lid and an interior-painted base.

Goofus glass was the first carnival prize glass, made between 1897–1920, and is known for its vibrant, unfired enamel paint that often wears beautifully with age. The "blown out" raised design adds a striking texture, giving it a distinctive, ornate presence. Though mass-produced, each surviving piece is increasingly rare and collectible!! This jar brings a touch of gilded nostalgia and turn-of-the-century charm to any vignette or display.
